Cold Smoke Scotch Ale earned a silver medal & a gold medal in the 2002 & 2007 NABA brewfests, respectively, and a bronze medal in 2009 at the GABF. Formulated with Montana grown 2-row barley, northwest Goldings hops, and lotsa love, this hearty ale drinks very smooth. Not bitter at all and not too sweet either. Novice beer drinkers have been known to take a taste and then say, “WOW! That’s not what I expected… that’s GOOD!” A hint of roasted barley lends a slight coffee-like smoky finish. With a 6.5% abv, this beer is perfect after a day of rippin’ lines on area or your favorite back country getaway. Available in 16 oz aluminum cans. 6.5 % abv (alcohol by volume); 11 IBUs (International Bittering Units). Available in stores in 16 oz aluminum cans!
Double Haul IPA is our most popular taproom ale. And the folks at NABA agreed, awarding it a gold medal at the 2008 brewfest. Brewed with lots of hops and a solid body, Double Haul IPA is a beer lover’s dream. After a couple of Double Hauls you’ll feel like you’re out with your buddies and it’s FISH ON! for both of you. Cascade bittering hops, Cascade flavoring hops, and Cascade finishing hops-a veritable cascade of hoppiness! Brewed with love and now available in 16 oz aluminum cans. 6.6 % abv; 65 IBUs but who’s counting! Available in stores in 16 oz aluminum cans!
Eddy Out Pale Ale (the beer formerly known as Bitters Pale Ale) has been a favorite at the Kettlehouse Brewery since 1996. Brewed with a healthy dose of Cascade aroma hops, Eddy Out is a classic American Pale Ale. This style is characterized by a citrusy American hoppiness balanced with a slight biscuit flavored malt character. The light copper color in this ale comes from caramelized malt which also aids in head retention. All this to describe a highly quaffable brew with a crisp hop finish. Great on a hot summer day, or a cold winter day while dreaming of a hot summer day. 5.5% abv and 50 IBUs. Available in stores in 16 oz aluminum cans!
Lake Missoula Amber was a bronze medal winner at the 2000 NABA awards and is a robust “beer drinker’s” amber. Amber in color with well balanced maltiness & hoppiness. 5.5% abv and 24 IBUs
Olde Bongwater Hemp Porter also won a gold medal at the 2008 NABA brewfest. We add pelletized industrial hemp to our most notorious brew. Seasoned beer drinkers will detect a slight nutty or grainy flavor emanating from the approximately 1/2 pound of hemp seeds per 16 gal keg. This Porter is a rich, chocolatey, robust style porter. 5.5% abv; 25 IBUs
Fresh Bongwater Pale Ale is made with Montana grown barley and Canadian grown industrial hemp making it a smooth drinking light ale. The hemp seeds lend a slight nutty flavor to the beer but don’t worry; there is no measurable THC in this brew (a local Missoula lab actually sat around and tested this). Caramel malts are added to enhance head retention and contribute sweetness. Great for parties where mass appeal is desired. 5% abv; 22 IBUs.
Only available in the taproom
Ginseng Pale Ale is the beer most likely to fly under the radar. Those who love it become loyal drinkers, unable to choke down anything other. Around here we say drink one of these and it’ll keep you up all night. Interpretation is strictly personal. Larry Evans, one of Missoula’s own, supplies us with the ginseng. 5.5% abv; 20 IBU’s
Hopnosis American Pale Ale may just persuade you into becoming a hops lover. Unbalanced towards the hops, slightly sweet body with lots of flavor and aroma hops, but not too bitter. 6% abv; 75 IBU’s
Hellgate Honey Hefeweizen is a smooth drinker for those hot summer days. The honey helps boost the alcohol content while also adding a floral bouquet to the nose. Yeast is left in the beer to add body (creamy mouth feel in beer geek’s terms) head retention and stability (another beer geek term), and a slight haziness. All to let you know that you’re drinking a fresh locally made beer that is still alive! 6% abv; 16 IBUs
Festival of the Dead Very Pale Ale welcomes fall in our Myrtle Street neighborhood. The first few days in November is a time for celebration and remembrance, and you will find this beer on tap at local bars & restaurants during this time of year only. In the spirit of the Mexican holiday of the Dia Los Muertos, or Day of the Dead, we brew Festival of the Dead Very Pale Ale. You can just call it Dead Beer. Dead Beer is our American Pale Ale that benefits VSA Arts of Montana. A portion of sales from this beer are donated to this organization which sponsors Missoula’s Day of the Dead Arts festival and parade. We use fresh Crystal Aroma Hops in the final stages of the boiling kettle. These hops are highly aromatic and contribute a citrusy flavor to the beer. Body is medium, the head is white and rocky and the finish, crisp. Don’t forget to pour a two finger head in order to roust the hop aromatics from the beer! 5.5% abv; 26 IBUs
Myrtle Street IPA is on nitro in our taproom. If you’ve never had a beer with nitrogen infused in it rather than CO2, it would be worth the visit to our taproom to try it out. Nitrogen is much creamier than CO2. You’ll notice the difference with one luscious sip. Brewed with all Cascade hops. 6.5% abv; 50 IBUs.
Zula Stout is a rich, full flavored stout with hints of chocolate and coffee. We offer this one on Nitro as well, aka Slow Ride Stout. 6.5% abv; 47 IBUs
Maibock is, well, a bock that you drink in May! A little on the sweeter side, like the smell of spring air, take a giant leap with this brew. Think the “liqueur” of the beer family. 7.5% abv; 27 IBUs
Discombobulator Doppelbock will do as its name suggests, so imbibe with caution. A dark, malty brew with not much bitterness, it’s the “more” version of a bock - more maltiness, more richness and need I say more?…. 8.5% abv; 28 IBUs
Hemptober Spliff is a traditional Octoberfest brew in a non-traditional Kettle House way. With a balnced body and hops, this one has a slightly sweet finish and a full white head. 6.5% abv;24 IBU’s
Al Pilsner (the Missoula Bohemian) is named after our own Al Pils, voted best bartender for the last three years. And although the mass produced American beers qualify as pilsners, don’t let that turn you off. A fresh, locally brewed pilsner is delectable any time of year - and a far cry from the mass produced stuff. 5% abv; 28 IBUs.
Liberty C.A.P is back by popular demand. If you haven’t gotten your hands on a pint of this, you need to try something new and delicious. Cascading hops and corn add an American touch to this pilsner. Clean and a light citrusy aroma with a bit more mouthfeel. 6% abv; 28IBU’s
